These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Aprecis app ("Aprecis", "we", "us"). By downloading or using Aprecis, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

The service

Aprecis turns publicly available AI research papers into short, swipeable lessons. Lessons are generated by an automated pipeline and are provided for general educational purposes. They are summaries and simplifications, may contain errors or omissions, and are not a substitute for reading the original papers or for professional, academic, financial, legal, or other advice. Source papers remain the property of their respective authors and publishers.

No account required

Aprecis does not require you to create an account or sign in. Your library and progress are stored on your device. You are responsible for your device and for any data you keep within the app.

Acceptable use

Use Aprecis only for lawful, personal, non-commercial purposes.
Do not attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer, scrape, or overload the service or its backend, except to the limited extent that law expressly permits.
Do not misuse the content in a way that infringes the rights of paper authors or third parties.

Aprecis Plus subscription

Aprecis offers an optional auto-renewable subscription, Aprecis Plus, which unlocks additional features such as unlimited daily lessons, the full related-papers graph, and library sync. The following terms apply to all auto-renewable subscriptions purchased in the app:

Title: Aprecis Plus.
Length: subscriptions are offered on a monthly and a yearly basis. The exact duration and the price are shown in the app at the point of purchase, in your local currency.
Payment: payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
Auto-renewal: your subscription automatically renews for the same period unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
Renewal charge: your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, at the price of the selected plan.
Managing and cancelling: you can manage or cancel your subscription, and turn off auto-renewal, in your device's Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
Free trials (if offered): any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription, where applicable.

All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store and are subject to Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions. Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with those terms; we cannot directly issue refunds for App Store purchases.

Intellectual property

The Aprecis app, its design, brand, and the generated lesson presentations are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by applicable laws. The underlying research papers and their abstracts belong to their authors and publishers, and are referenced under their respective terms. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for your own learning.

Disclaimers

Aprecis is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of content. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that lesson content is complete or correct.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Aprecis and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the app or its content.

Changes to the service or these Terms

We may update, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We may also update these Terms; we will revise the effective date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable where the operator of Aprecis is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, and subject to any mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.
